Rules & specifications for Aqua-Rookie of Europe
A Rookie:
- is an instructor between 18-35 years old.
- can not have presented national on stage more than MAX. 3 times
- can not have presented international
How many and what kind of classes?
The Rookie has to teach 2 classes:
- choreography in shallow water
- free-style in deep water with belt or noodle
Each class will have a duration of 20 min (maximum 25 minutes, minimum 18 minutes). Music (own choice) has to be used. There is no warm up, but a small stretch or cooldown is allowed to make a nice ending to the class.
What will the Judges be looking for?
The judges will look for an
allround presenter, who demonstrates good technique, good cueing and has a very good exposure!
The Points
Will be giving after a 10 points system and divided into 3 areas:
The Class
- presentation of class.
- the class in general.
- the flow between movements and combinations.
Hardware
Technique
- restricted use of repetitions.
- identification and differentiation of the common choreography styles used in aquatic exercise.
- the ability of the participant to differentiate between various impact options for aquatic exercises.
- the use of water-specific movements.
- the demonstration of the five basic ways to vary arm use and arm patterns in aquatic exercise (shallow water).
Cueing
- verbal: the cueing has to be in good time, correctly and telling exactly what the class has to do.
- non-verbal: directions, arm cueing and count down has to be clear.
Interpretation of music
- the use of music for motivation, maintaining cadence and achieving a desired intensity.
- the use of primarily water tempo and 1/2 water tempo movements in the choreography will allow to provide effective exercise through full range of motion.
- Climax rolls: the participant can earn extra points by using these dynamic moments in the music to create a good atmosphere in his/her class.
Software
Personality
The participant needs to have a strong charisma, a nice and friendly smile and a positive body language. The participant should make use of all the opportunities an aquafitness class has to offer.
Communication with the class
The participant has to be aware that this is a normal class. Talking to the class and asking for response are proofs of good communication skills. Spontaneous reactions of the class mean extra points for the participant.
Rookie activity and mobility
The participant has to be very active, very mobile, moving away from “the base position”. The participant has to avoid teaching from the same spot during the whole class.
